      David is currently working for the State of Hawaii, Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Aquatic Resources in partnership with the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary Program. David is responsible for administration of Hawaii's humpback whale research permits, assisting with response to stranded marine mammals including large whale disentanglement, and development of education and outreach material to assist in management of Hawaii's protected resources.

      Shimi is currently assisting with the culture and cultivation of algae strains for use in the development of biofuels at the Natural Energy Lab of Hawaii Authority on the Big Island of Hawaii.

      Having just received his Associates degree in Applied Trades (to go along with his B.S. in Biology), Bill is working as a civilian at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard designing and fabricating piping systems for submarines.

      Tara is in the process of completing her thesis in fulfillment of her masters degree in oceanography at the University of Hawaii. She has successfully defended her thesis, Spatial Variability in Plankton Size Structure and Community Composition Along Biogeochemical Gradients in the Pacific Ocean, and is expecting to graduate in August.
